Carnival at Bray by Jessie Ann Foley follows Maggie Lynch as she is uprooted from her home in Chicago when her mother falls for a new man--who insists they move with him to his family home in Bray, Ireland. The worst thing about the move is that her beloved uncle, a 20-something, is not coming with them. Never again will Maggie abscond, late at night, from her families home in Chicago, accompanied by Uncle Kevin, to the important events of 1990's Chicago Alt-Rock history (like the opening party for Smashing Pumpkin's Siamese Dreams). When Maggie receives a pair of tickets to an incredible concert in Rome she steals away to be a part of it but a historical tragedy turns her plan on its ear.
The audio selections above are primarily from bands hailing from Chicago in the early 1990's. Nirvana, though not from Chicago, plays an important role in the story.
*Hozier happens to be from Bray, Ireland. Why not play his debut album as well if you run out of other material.
