It is tempting to draw a line from Suzi Quatro, through the Runaways, through Chrissie Hynde, through Hole and (especially) Babes in Toyland, and end it here--at Bruise Violet. (There, I just did.) A band from St. Paul, Minnesota with a name taken directly from Babes In Toyland's biggest hit seems bent on comparing itself to it's Twin Cities big sister.

Give it few listens and you may find that their technical abilities (especially vocals) set them apart from their namesake, but the angst certainly remains strong.

Incidentally, they are not the first band to call themselves Bruise Violet. There is at least one other band (an all female hardcore band from southern California--disbanded in ~2009) to have used the name previously.
