Tenafly Public Library

The community's resource for learning, culture and relaxation

The Library's Steinway Piano originally owned by Chico Marx and donated by the Friends of the Library. Paintings by Mikel Glass from his recent exhibit.

Welcome.... to the Tenafly Public Library, the community's resource for learning, culture and relaxation.  The Library offers a constantly evolving world of materials that exists to address your needs and interests.  Here the past, the present, and visions of the future await you.

Through a generous bequest from the Estate of Cynthia Wilson of Tenafly, a glass partition with double doors has been installed at the entrance to the Children's Room. The result is a quieter and better Library!

The Library is home to several permanent works of art. "The Garden Party" by Harvey Dunn, a major American illustrator who painted in Tenafly from 1919 to 1952, hangs on permanent display near the entrance of the Library.  The painting was a gift to the Borough from Harvey Dunn's estate, and is housed in a beautiful frame made possible by a gift from Dr. Robin Motz in memory of his wife, Janice Stein Motz.

Harvey Dunn's "The Battle of the Bastille" now hangs at the library entrance. It is a depiction, oil on canvas, of the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789.

Be sure to view the Tenafly Centennial Photo collage (1996) by Tenafly Photographer Gordon D. Rapp.

Tenafly artist Boonja Choi has donated "Between Light and Light," an acrylic painting, in honor of Changin Chung.  It is on permanent exhibit in the Reference Room.

"Roosevelt Common," oil on canvas, by Tenafly artist Eugene B. Dunkel (1890-1972), has been donated by Elizabeth and George Dunkel in memory of their parents, George and Helen Dunkel.
