For Reference questions, please call the
Reference Department at 201-568-8680.
|
The Reference Department serves students and
adults and is one of the most heavily used areas of the Library.
Typically, over 17,000 questions are answered by the Library’s
professional staff every year. A professional reference librarian is
always on duty to assist you with your research.
Since reference books and other sources must be available at all times, they may not be borrowed. The Reference Collection includes an extensive collection of encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, indexes, directories, handbooks, guides, as well as useful online databases and lateral file materials. Instant photocopying machines, including a Copystar color unit, make quick copies of reference information and other materials at 15˘ a page. Through its interlibrary loan service, the Reference staff will try to obtain for Tenafly residents (only) materials that are not owned by any BCCLS library. This service takes more time and may incur a fee. |
